Last night Josh called from the hospital to say goodnight to Henry.  During the conversation he was paged and had to get off the phone abruptly.  Here is the conversation Henry and I had in the minutes after hanging up with Dad.

Henry: Why did you hang up the phone?

Me: Because Daddy had to go help somebody.

Henry: Because somebody is sick?  Is it because Daddy is a Power Doctor?  I wish I could go to the hospital to see Daddy work on people he is sick of.

*PS- Only 6 more weeks until henry gets a sibling to share all these great insights with.

Big Bad Wolf

Halloween was fantastic this year.  The day began with a Halloween parade at Henry's preschool and ended with Trick-or-Treating with the Sawkiw family.  About two months ago Henry and Kendall** decided they wanted to dress up together and be Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf  (**read: Ainsley and Alyson).  Henry was so happy to be out with the girls all night, and I can't believe what a big kid he has become. Unfortunately Josh was on call at the hospital until late and missed tricks or treats this year -- but we can't complain because there was still time to share a bowl of Monster Cereal on the back porch before Henry's [extended] bed time that night.   What more could you want?

Family Trip, part 2

St. George, UT

We stopped in St. George on the way up and on the way back.  Again, we were lucky enough to have perfect weather: crisp mornings, fall air, and sunshine.  It is seriously beautiful there.  I can't even count the number of times that Josh and I have wished there was a medical school or residency program in St. George so we could live near these guys. We love hanging out with them, and we still have to hear Henry ask where Jaynee and Grammer-Jammer are every. single. day.

Family Trip, part 1

Josh had his first vacation week at the end of September, and we took a business/pleasure trip to Utah for the week.  We had a fantastic time.  The weather was **perfect** and it was really interesting taking Henry to a few of the places we lived before he was born.  He kept saying, "Guys, this is where you lived while I was still in heaven with Jaynee."  For the first time (ever?) we remembered to bring our camera almost everywhere.  I guess I hadn't realized how deficit we had been on Josh/Daddy time over the past few months; it was so nice just being together as a family.  I had pretty much forgotten how much Josh makes us laugh, and how completely happy Henry gets when both mom and dad are around.
