Boys' Hike

This week Opa, Josh, and Henry went on a hike together on Superstition Mountain.  One of the many perks of living in this part of Arizona is that there is a beautiful range of mountains in every direction you look.  This was Henry's second hike ever, and I hear he did great. 

 

 Taking a break for some water and fruit snacks.  In Henry's mind, this is the second most important part of a hike, next to cheering once you make it to the top.

Yesterday in Primary Henry was chosen to be the V.I.P.  (I don't think anyone reads this blog other than a few family members, so I will just assume everyone knows what a Primary V.I.P. is.)  At the end of the game, once Henry was announced as the spotlight child for the week and had come up to stand in front of all the other children (left shoe in hand, of course), the Primary President asked him if he had any hidden talents.  Without much hesitation, Henry broke out into a "Dancey Dance" from one of his favorite episodes of Yo Gabba Gabba!.  It was a pretty solid performance.  But the best part of all was that during his dance, all of the other kids in Junior Primary were on their feet, cheering him on.   Watching all of the bigger kids cheer for Henry and realizing that they all know and love him was one of the sweetest, most heart-warming things I have experienced as a parent.  

It's also good to know that all the kids in Primary have recovered emotionally from the shoe-throwing incident a few weeks ago.

Josh went camping with his dad and a few of his brothers last week. He had a great trip. I had to explain to Henry countless times that Josh will take him next time. (But I think Henry was just envious that Josh got to see Grandpa and Lou.)

Sunday night was Henry's first time playing in the snow. In true Daddy form, Josh showed him how to make a snow angel, guided him in sculpting perfect snowballs, and taught him the golden rule of snow: "You don't throw snowballs at Mommy."

Littlest Sunbeam

I took these pictures before church (and unfortunately during breakfast and before hair combing) last Sunday. He's kind of a mess, but I figured the pictures are more authentic this way.

Anyone else think this next picture looks just like Charlie when he was little? I had never realized that Henry resembles him so much. It's hard to look at it without laughing. I wish I had a picture of 3-year-old Charlie to post next to it.

I still can't believe how big this boy is, and that he is actually old enough to be a Sunbeam -- albeit the littlest Sunbeam in his class by a whopping 8 months.
